Verflochtene Drähte, neu arrangierte Tastaturtasten, collagierte Motherboards – Elias Sime hat in der Umnutzung und Nutzbarmachung von Elektroschrott eine Ästhetik entwickelt, die in den Bann zieht. Der äthiopische Künstler gibt im Gespräch mit seiner Kollaborateurin Meskerem Assegued und Kuratorin Felicitiy Korn Einblicke in seine Arbeit, die verwendeten Materialien und die diesen innewohnende Geschichten: „Das Material vermittelt ein unmittelbares Gefühl für die aktuelle Situation, in der wir leben.“

Interwoven wires, rearranged keyboard keys, collaged motherboards – Elias Sime has developed a captivating aesthetic by transforming and repurposing electronic waste. In conversation with his collaborator Meskerem Assegued and curator Felicitiy Korn, the Ethiopian artist provides insights into his work, the materials used and the stories they tell: “The material conveys an immediate feeling for the current situation in which we live.”
